An avalanche struck him while he was doing what he loved most. His life changed in an instant. Álvaro lost mobility from the waist down. Anyone else would have seen it as an insurmountable obstacle.

Let's rewind. Now we speak from the knowledge of having met Álvaro. "Obstacle? What's that?" asks Álvaro Bayona, "it's not a barrier, it's a change of course."

A desire to improve, optimism, hard work, learning…all of this has become the life of this Catalan man in his early thirties who decided to show the world how one's inner strength can fight against the physical barriers that life throws in your path.

Dedicated to rehabilitation, he began a new phase of his life in which he took up Paralympic swimming. He almost qualified for the Paralympic Games.

Wakeboarding is his passion. So much so that he's decided to start a company selling chairs adapted for wakeboards. A lover of extreme sports who enjoys every second of what he does.
