- More than thirty athletes with disabilities from Brazil, Canada, the United States, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal and Spain are already registered for 2022.
- The Foundation, as always present!
- For the first time, adaptive surfing will have its own space in the ABANCA PANTÍN CLASSIC GALICIA PRO 2022 with the first event in Galician waters and 10,000 euros in prizes.
- 'We disabled athletes are happy to have this great opportunity to compete,' says Francesena, a blind surfer from Zarautz.
The adapted surfing competition kicks off the 35th edition of the ABANCA PANTÍN CLASSIC GALICIA PRO 2022 championship on Saturday the 9th and will continue throughout the weekend until Monday the 11th, when, sea conditions permitting, the finals will take place, distributing a total of 10,000 euros in prizes.
The Alvin Bayona Foundation is once again at the forefront of organizing a major adaptive surfing event, drawing on Alvin 's extensive experience in organizing events committed to inclusive sports.
“The Xunta de Galicia is collaborating with this pioneering project, which is exemplary throughout Spain and unites sport with disability, with the values that these fields add, such as camaraderie, teamwork and above all the continuous desire to improve,” says the General Directorate for the Elderly and Disability of the Galician Executive.
For its part, ABANCA points out that the values of sport must prevail and offer equal opportunities to all athletes regardless of their abilities.
