Adaptive skiing has existed for a long time, emerging after World War II around 1947 in Austria. This skiing discipline is practiced with special chairs whose aluminum frame, in some cases incorporating motorcycle or bicycle suspensions (depending on the model), is used to absorb any unevenness in the terrain.
