THIS IS HOW TXAPELKETA ADAPTED SURFING WAS

On July 12th, 13th, and 14th, Sopelana hosted an international festival of adaptive surfing, featuring the first Adaptive Surfing Championship on our coast. It was organized by Surf Peña Txuri , the Alvin Bayona Foundation , and @haimandelpozo.

More than 70 professional surfers of different nationalities - Japan, Australia, Hawaii, South Africa, Italy… - have gathered in the Basque Country these days.

A championship full of local and international talent!

Surfing for everyone

After the participants were introduced at the Sopelana Town Hall , the championship began. The surfers competed in eight categories , with €17,000 in prizes up for grabs. Not only professionals, but also surfers with disabilities had the opportunity to take to the water several times, with the assistance of experts.

At each level, the first prize was 600 euros, the second 300 euros, and the third 200 euros. The prizes were the same for both women and men.

A championship full of energy and excitement, in which its participants gave their all to take the victory.
