Adapted SUP — Adapted Paddle Surf
25 October 2015

This is the star sport for paraplegics, amputees, and elderly or injured people.
Currently, the Alvin Bayona Foundation is involved in a project to facilitate access to Adapted Paddle Surfing, where chairs are being developed to be adapted to an Inflatable Paddle Surf to practice this sport in a safe and proven way.
Stand up paddle is a type of surfing in which a paddle is used for propulsion and one remains standing or seated in an ALVIN EXTREME chair the entire time.
SUP (Stand Up Paddle Surf) is used as a resource in the rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injuries or lower limb injuries because it provides countless health and anatomical benefits, such as agility, motor coordination, muscle re-muscle building and lots of fun.
Adapted SUP is a unique initiative worldwide, as it is a very new sport and there was no precedent for any type of adaptation for its practice until April 2014 when I started my project to expand the feat.
